This is Cape Cod Dance Center’s 21st annual performance of the holiday classic "The Nutcracker." The ballet production, directed and choreographed by studio owner Eveline Carle, has been a part of the studio’s holiday tradition for over two decades. With a cast of over 80 members, including professional dancers, alumnae and students enrolled in Ms. Carle’s ballet program, the Christmas fantasy is captivating for the whole family. This year’s performances will be held at the Bourne High School on Waterhouse Road on Saturday, December 10th at 7pm and Sunday, December 11th at 2pm.
The Cape Cod Dance Center’s production is not only exquisitely performed, it is also very entertaining. Ms. Carle unique version of the ballet is filled with humor from the first scene of the ballet in the sprightliness of the Party Scene, to the amusing cooks who bring giant-sized cakes to Clara—the lead character—as she enters the magical "Land of the Sweets."
Tickets for the production can be purchased over the phone with a credit card by calling 508-564-6165, or in person at Eight Cousins Bookstore on Main Street, Falmouth. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the shows. Tickets are $18 for seniors (65 and older) and kids (18 and under) and $23 for adults. Children 3 and under can attend for free. Group ticket sales are available; please call the school directly for more details.
Cape Cod Dance Center will present 2 full-length productions this season. Students from the ballet program, joined by professional dancers and actors, will present “La Fille Mal Gardée”, a comic ballet translated into English as the "Ballet of Straw" as it is set on a farm. The ballet tells the story of Lise and Colas who are in love, and Lisa's mother who has already arranged a marriage for her and tries to keep them apart... unsuccessfully.
The second production is "The Great Adventure" which will showcase a medley of dances that takes two young dancers on an adventure around the world.
Both productions will be held at the Bourne High School on June 17 & 18, 2017. The ballet will be presented on Saturday at 2 & 7pm and "The Great Adventure" on Sunday at 3pm.
Pricing for the performances is as follows: $12 students & seniors, $16 for adults, for the ballet. $10 students & seniors, $12 for adults for "The Great Adventure". Tickets will be available at the door or call (508) 564-6165 to make a reservation.
The Summer Choreography Project is a collaborative event presented each year at the Cape Cod Dance Center studio.
The project was created to provide a venue for young performing artists to engage in the performing art locally and present their work in a non-competitive environment. The project is directed by studio owner Eveline Carle. This diverse and inspiring performance incorporates a variety of dance styles, such as jazz, tap, modern, contemporary, and neoclassical.
Audience members will be invited to write critical comments and personal perspectives to share with the dancers and choreographers after the performance. A short question and answer session will be held after the hour long presentation for those interested in hearing more about the creative process.
The performances will be held at the Cape Cod Dance Center at 1340 County Rd (at 28A) on Saturday August 27, 2016 at 7:30pm. Limited seating is available, so come early. Suggested Donation $5.
