Classical Ballet | Pointes

Our program is divided in eight levels to guarantee each student proper placement based on age and ability. In addition to receiving a well-rounded ballet education, our goal is to inspire students artistically, offer guidance in body alignment and injury prevention and offer advice as they reach a professional level.

Cape Cod Dance Center offers Pointe classes to students in level 4B through level 6. Students usually begin pointes training at age 11. The school requires that all students who wish to dance on pointes take part in a minimum of three classical ballet classes weekly.

Please visit our Classes & Pricing Page for more information.

Contemporary Dance

Cape Cod Dance Center offers this program to allow dancers of today to keep up with the dances of today. Incorporating elements of modern dance, partnering, and more, the contemporary dance program will expand each student’s vocabulary of movement and bring freedom and strength to their dancing.

Tap | Lyrical | Jazz

Cape Cod Dance Center lyrical dance program combines elements of ballet, modern, and Jazz dance techniques. It is commonly set to popular music with vocals or just instrumental bars. The name lyrical comes from the word "lyrics" because dancers use the lyrics of a song or instrumental music to inspire them to do certain movements or show expression.

The jazz dance program exposes dancers to the many elements included in the jazz style of dance as well as other influences such as acro and hip-hop.

The tap program is a great introduction to tap dancing which is characterized by a tapping sound that is created from metal plates that are attached to both the ball and heel of the dancer's shoe.

Hip Hop

The hip-hop dance program introduces students to a wide range of styles notably breaking, locking, and popping which were developed in the 1970s. What separates hip-hop dance from other forms of dance is that it is often freestyle (improvisational) in nature. No prior dance experience required.
